Based on German sources , this surname has several  historical meanings.

If you use  the word base “lure” from the central upper German region, it means -   “fellow”, “sly” or “wine”or  “ winery”.

If you use word base “lohe”, it means -   “groin” or ”flame”.

The surname Lauermann is  often written in  old birth registers in a shape Laurisch.

Lauermeister or Lauermann is an archaic form of  the occupation of  tanner.  On the other hand, Lauer  means  “rough” or “criminal”. The choice is up

to you.

This surname can be found   in   birth registration in the form  with  single  or double  “n”, but also in a form of Lawermann or Lauwerman.

 The brothers Frantisek and Josef Lauermann    born   in 11.11.1714  in Ploskovice close to Litomerice were the best known   Lauermans at all. There 

were famous baroque sculptors – see fragment of Ceskolipsko.  Also  Anna and Olga  Lauerman, were well- known  writers  in  Czech literature. In

architecture,  Lev Lauermann  in the present day is famous – see family tree Praha.
